Kingshot Gen 1 Master Priority Guide: Who to Unlock First (F2P + Spender)

Kingshot Gen 1 Masters Valora, Pan, Cassia, and Roman lined up for the Master Priority guide

Four Gen 1 Masters. The order you build them in matters more than most players realize, because Master Academy resources are slow to replace and the wrong skill at the wrong level traps Manuscripts you needed elsewhere.

This is the priority order, by playstyle, with no padding.

This page assumes you already know how Journey Supplies, Affinity, and the Gen 1 Master resources work. If not, start with the Master Academy Guide and come back.

The Short Order

PlaystyleOrder
F2P / Low-SpenderValora → Pan → Cassia or Roman
War-Heavy / Rally LeadValora → Cassia → Pan → Roman
Arena-FocusedValora → Pan → Roman → Cassia
KvK-StrictUnlock all four. Pause on Emblems/Manuscripts/Speedups.

Position one is the same for everyone (the game decides for you). Position two is almost always Pan unless you're actively fighting on the map. The interesting decision is position three.

F2P and Low-Spender Path

Valora is the game-mandated first Master, so don't burn Adventure Supplies on her. Pan is your second target because his reward loop starts compounding the moment he settles — no Manuscripts required.

The real decision is who goes third: Cassia or Roman.

Pick Cassia third if you fight in alliance rallies, hit world map targets, or care about field combat. Her Squad Attack, Defense, Lethality, and Health bonuses apply to every march you send, not just one game mode.

Pick Roman third if Arena is your daily routine. His Star Belligerent passive drops Mythic Shards and Forgehammers after every match — but only if you're actually queuing matches.

Most F2P players will get more out of Cassia. Arena rewards are great when you grind Arena. Battle stats are great when you simply exist on the map.

Phase plan

  1. Valora unlocks → Leader By Example to L3, Weapon Obsession to L3
  2. Pan unlocks → Falconer to L3, then Ways and Means
  3. Cassia or Roman unlocks → see per-master priority below
  4. Whichever Master you skipped in step 3 → unlock for the passive, skip skill investment

War-Heavy and Rally Lead Path

You lead rallies. You join rallies. You fight on the map regularly.

Cassia jumps to position two.

Valora's Weapon Obsession is still the best permanent Forge Hammer source in the game and irreplaceable for gear progression, which is why she stays at the top even for war players. After that, Cassia's kit affects every march you send. Pan and Roman are valuable, but they aren't winning fights.

OrderMasterFocus
1ValoraWeapon Obsession L3, Leader By Example L3
2CassiaRecruiter In Chief L3, then Inspiring Mobilization for rally capacity
3PanUnlock for the daily income; advance only if KvK windows allow
4RomanUnlock for completion; skip skill investment unless Arena matters

Arena-Focused Path

If your account exists for Arena ranking, Arena Tokens, and Arena Shop value, Roman moves up the order.

OrderMasterFocus
1ValoraStandard L3 stops on Skills 2 and 3
2PanEconomy is universal; doesn't conflict with Arena focus
3RomanWinner Take All and Crowd Favorite first
4CassiaUnlock, skip skill investment

Roman's combat skills (Teacher of Champions, One Desire) only matter if you're losing Arena matches you want to win. If you're already winning, the reward skills (Winner Take All, Crowd Favorite) compound faster.

KvK-Strict Modifier

Strict kingdoms aren't telling you to skip Masters. They're telling you not to dump KvK-scoring materials into Masters during prep windows.

Apply this on top of any order above:

  • Unlock all four. Journey Supplies and Adventure Supplies don't score.
  • Use Gifts freely. Same logic — they don't score.
  • Pause on Emblems, Manuscripts, and Master Skill Speedups during strict windows.
  • Resume during relaxed periods or after leadership clears spend.

The passives start the moment a Master settles. Roman drops Arena Star Chests without a single Manuscript spent. Pan produces Reserve Chests immediately. Get them online, then sit on the upgrade spend.

Valora — Hunting Master

Valora settles first whether you want her to or not. Her kit is narrow, but two of her four skills directly add gear materials, which makes her the only Master where pushing Emblems early is justified.

PrioritySkillWhyF2P stop
TopWeapon ObsessionPermanent Forgehammers per Bear Hunt, ignores damage tierLevel 3
TopLeader By ExamplePermanent Enhancement XP Parts per Bear HuntLevel 3
SkipDance of the HuntBear Hunt rally cap — alliance-side benefit
SkipSavage AdvantagePersonal squad cap; ~8-9% damage gain due to square-root scaling

Why L3? The Manuscript cost roughly doubles each level past L3. Going L3 → L4 costs 2,000 Manuscripts for the same +1 Forgehammer that L1 → L2 gave you for 500. L3 is the last level where the cost-to-benefit ratio stays sharp. Holding here keeps Manuscripts free for Pan, who compounds every day he's unlocked.

Push deeper if your alliance runs Bear Hunt every event and Pan is already at his F2P stop point.

Pan — Prosperity Master

Pan is the strongest daily income Master. The value is in the unlock itself — gathering starts producing Reserve Chests with True Gold the moment he settles. Manuscripts only sharpen what's already working.

PrioritySkillWhyF2P stop
TopFalconerMore Intel = more True Gold and hero shards dailyLevel 3-4
HighWays and MeansExtra Mystery Badges + Mystery Shop refreshesLevel 3+
MediumGood StewardDoubled Storehouse staminaLevel 1-2
LastMaster Architect-8h construction time at max

Why L3-4 on Falconer? L3 gives 4 daily Intel Missions; L4 jumps to 6 (Falconer is one of the few skills where a single level adds +2 instead of +1). After L4, the cost per Intel Mission climbs sharply. Ways and Means scales linearly with no cost cliff, so it's fine to push that higher if Mystery Shop refreshes matter to you. Master Architect is last for most players because construction speed isn't usually the bottleneck — True Gold is.

Roman — Arena Champion

Roman pays back Arena play, not general play. His Star Belligerent passive turns every Arena match into a Mythic Shards / Forgehammers / speedups lottery. His skills compound that for active Arena players.

PrioritySkillWhyF2P stop
Top (Arena)Winner Take AllMore Daily and Weekly Arena Token rewardsLevel 3+
Top (Arena)Crowd FavoriteMore discounted Arena Shop items, up to 50% offLevel 3+
CombatTeacher of Champions+Escort Arena Atk & HPSkip unless losing matches
CombatOne Desire+Hero Arena Atk & HPSkip unless losing matches

Why L3+ on the reward skills? Winner Take All and Crowd Favorite scale linearly through L10 with no cost cliff — each level costs proportionally more for proportionally more benefit. L3 is the floor that justifies the upfront unlock (+15% Tokens, 1 shop item at 15% off). Push higher level by level for as long as Arena stays in your daily routine. If you don't queue Arena daily, Roman's chest passive does most of the work and his skill investment is hard to justify.

Cassia — Battle Master

Cassia is the rally and field combat specialist. Three of her four skills boost stats that apply to every march, which is what separates her from Roman. The catch: her skill caps go to level 20 instead of 10, so reaching her ceiling costs significantly more Manuscripts than the older Masters.

PrioritySkillWhyF2P stop
Top (Rally lead)Inspiring Mobilization+Rally Squad Capacity at every levelLevel 4-5
Top (Free troops)Recruiter In ChiefFree high-level soldiers from Camps + MedallionsLevel 3
MediumFirepower to Win+Squad Atk & Def, +10% at L20Level 5
MediumCommando+Squad Lethality & HP, +10% at L20Level 5

Why these stops? Recruiter In Chief at L3 is the cleanest passive value on Cassia — free soldiers from every Camp visit and bonus Medallions stack with no requirement to fight. Inspiring Mobilization at L4-5 covers the +20,000 to +25,000 Rally Capacity that matches the march sizes most F2P players actually field. Firepower to Win and Commando at L5 lock in +2.5% Atk/Def/Lethality/HP on every march, which is the sweet spot before the cost-per-percent climbs sharply past L10. Push the percent-stat skills past L5 only if you lead alliance rallies regularly.

Universal Rules

Three rules that apply regardless of which Master you're building:

  1. Never let Learning idle. The skill queue is shared across all Masters. If nothing's researching, you're losing free passive time.
  2. Spend Emblems on Affinity before Research. Affinity unlocks the passive multipliers. Research is post-100 content most players don't need yet.
  3. Buy Emblems before Manuscripts in the Alliance Championship shop. 22,000 points for 15 General Master Emblems is the better trade.

When to Stop Investing

Three questions to ask before spending the next Manuscript:

Is the next level past diminishing returns? Levels 1-3 are high value per Manuscript. Past level 5, especially on Cassia's 20-level skills, the cost-per-percent climbs steeply. Stop and unlock something else.

Is a strict KvK window coming? If prep starts in the next two weeks, stop now. Resume after.

Is there an unlocked-but-untouched skill? A new skill at level 1 usually beats an existing skill at level 4. Spread before stacking.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I prioritize Cassia over Roman as F2P?

Most likely yes. Cassia's stats touch every fight on the world map. Roman only pays back if you grind Arena daily. Field combat is more universal than Arena-mode play.

Is Cassia worth the extra Manuscripts for her 20-level skills?

For her first 5 levels per skill, yes. Past that, only push if you lead alliance rallies regularly. The marginal value per Manuscript drops off after L10.

Can I delay Valora to focus on Pan?

No. Valora settles when her Affinity hits 1,000 whether you target her or not. The question is how much Manuscript investment she gets after that, not whether she unlocks.

What's the cheapest unlock path?

Valora unlocks free through daily Journey Supplies. Pan, Roman, and Cassia all cost Adventure Supplies after you discover them in Realm Journeys. None require gem spending if you're patient.

Should KvK-strict kingdoms unlock all four Gen 1 Masters?

Yes. Unlocking uses Journey and Adventure Supplies — neither scores. Pause on Emblems, Manuscripts, and Master Skill Speedups during prep windows.

Which Master should I unlock first if I'm joining a new kingdom?

Same priority for everyone: Valora is automatic, then Pan for the daily income. The compounding value of Pan's Reserve Chests is the same on day one or day one hundred.

Is there a "wrong" answer here?

Spending Manuscripts on Valora's Skill 1 or Skill 4 before Pan is unlocked. Those two skills cap out at modest value and Pan's daily income is too important to delay.
